Walls stretch high above me
Endless
In their stone confidence.
Their unshakeable trust
In their own timeless beauty
Frightens me, the
Short and transient girl.
Here for but a moment -
A gunshot, a violent flash
Of high beam headlights -
Before snapping away
To nothing.
I am there, I am
Here, but I
Am never still.
Kinetic, frenetic, I
Am but a moment's breath,
I am the butterfly flapping its wings.
I am the beating heart of a hummingbird.
Next to the ageless stretch of this cave,
I am nothing but a memory.
